This classic of fencing literature is not just a how-to manual designed to teach the routine movements of the sport. Written by a master swordsman who competed professionally and whose credentials include teaching at Rome's Italian Fencing Masters' School and Vienna's Austro-Hungarian Central Fencing School, as well as private instruction in Paris, the book divulges the reasons behind every aspect of positioning, invitation, engagement, thrusting, parrying, counterparrying, tempo, feints, and ripostes. Inherent in every word is the author's great love of the sport and his appreciation for the artistry of the foil. In the last section of this book, first published in English in 1933, Barbasetti presents a short history of fencing--from the heroic times of Homer to the Middle Ages--and a useful glossary of fencing terms in English, Italian, French, and German. Clear b&w line drawings illustrate correct stances and actions while several plates capture the drama of the sport as depicted by other artists.

Unknowingly, she fell in love with the one thing that terrified her the most… When Avery Miller met Sebastian Taylor on that cold October night, she was sure that fate had somehow brought them together; but now that his secrets are finally unraveling, she’s coming to terms with the fact that their destiny may be darker than she ever imagined.
The truth is, Sebastian has been hiding from the Pure Ones (immortal gods who have had their purity stolen) for nearly a century, fearful of what they might do if they were to discover his location. But now a series of unforeseen circumstances have forced him to choose between the life he wants and the life he was ‘cursed’ to endure forever.
In a physical marathon, the "wall" shows up about mile twenty or twenty-one; when this happens, mind and body shake hands to say "we quit." That's where most runners will shut down, un they reach down into their identity as spirit. To the question "Who am I; what is my identity?" God's answer is "I am spirit; I have a mind; and I live in a body." So, to break through the "wall" requires a hierarchy of spirit over mind over body.
God's Word will address our spirit when mind and body are out of it, thereby setting Word over spirit over mind over body to keep the feet moving. Project this to other marathons: mental, spiritual, emotional, interpersonal, occupational, financial, etc.
Bottom line: Can the reader finish the book, put it down, and say: "Wow, look what God's Word performed; I want to be in the Word; I want the Word to be in me"? The closer the reader comes to God's Word, the closer they come to Him (John 1:14). The Word will have become "sent out (Isaiah 55:10-11), active and alive (Hebrews 4:12), watched over and performed" (Jeremiah 1:12) in their lives!
